~Simply Engaged: Jenny and Ali~

Hello all of my lovelies!!!

This here is my very first entry in my new series:

Simply Engaged

I am truly super stoked to show you all my lovely clients.  They are the best!

So here's a little more about the gorgeous
{Jenny & Ali}
. . .

 All of this lovely photography is by the talented Shari and Mike Photography
(uhhh-mazing!)

From: Vancouver, B.C.

Wedding Day: June 16th 2012

Location: Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA

{How did you two love birds meet?}
"Ali & I met at work.  We both work for a dental supply company. At the time, I was working in Calgary and Ali was working in Vancouver. I came to Vancouver for a few days to visit the Vancouver office. One of our colleagues arranged for us to go for dinner. At first, I really did not want to go (I didn't know who he was, and I wanted to spend the night with some friends). But, I went and it was the best night!!
From that night, we took quite a liking to each other :) "

{How did he pop the big question?}
"The big question was popped on May 22, 2011 in Seattle, WA. We got all dressed up and went out for dinner/entertainment to Teatro Zinzanni. Ali arranged for us to be brought up on stage to be part of the show. I was pretty pumped about getting up on stage, but wasn't expecting at all what was about to go down! Half way through the act, Ali was down on one knee confessing his love (well, not really, he just asked if I would marry him). To this day, he still says that I never said yes. But nonetheless, we're getting married!"

{What is your fave date spot/activity?}
"Our fave date activity by far is cooking at home with wine. Ali is an awesome cook, and I've become a pretty fine Su Chef. In terms of our fave date spot, we will always love Chambard, as that was the restaurant we went to on our first date. Well, at that time it wasn't actually a date, but it was where we went for dinner that evening in Vancouver after we first met. I've attached a pic of us kissing in front of the spot- we took our photographers there for our engagement pics"

{What is your fave part about the wedding planning process?}
"I love waking up every morning and stalking Style Me Pretty! I also love connecting with people who have recently been married, and talking about their day and planning that went into it. I love seeing how each wedding is unique and special to each couple. It's a day of love, and I looooove everything about the whole process!"

{Advice to planning a wedding to other couples?}
"Be in the moment! If there are times when things start to get a little stressful or feel overwhelming, take a step back and be in the moment. Just think, its your wedding and it is something that you will only do once in your life. Whether is dress shopping, working on seat assignments, or picking candy for the candy bar- enjoy doing it and soak up every second of this special time!"

{His/Her faves}
Ali's faves: cooking, riding his motorcycle, vintage Porsche speedster, fresh cut flowers, whiskey, antique Persian rugs

    Jenny's faves: shopping, yoga, cooking with my fiance, hot bath, David's Tea, going out for breakfast, biking the seawall with Ali on our cruisers (Marshall and B), wallpaper

{On my wedding day I am most excited about}
Ali: "the party! More specifically, having all of our favourite people together and having a blast."

Jenny: "me too, the party for sure. I want everybody to feel super relaxed and to have a fab/fun day!"

{Fave meal your fiance makes for you?}
Ali: maple glaze pork tenderloin

Jenny: pizza buns, mmm mmm mmm :)

 {If we could go anywhere for our honeymoon}
 "We would go to Spain and drink wine, eat the most delicious food and live like a local."

They are pretty darn adorable right?!

Thank you Jenny and Ali for sharing this with us,
and I can't wait to help you on your BIG DAY June 16th!!!
(and visit you both in Vancouver some day soon!)

xoxo

~Sweet Words~

Awww I woke up this morning to a super sweet endorsement from a fellow wedding vendor, David from
 a FAB wedding officiant in the Seattle area.

"Working with Tamara is a genuine pleasure. She's full of energy and treats her clients like

royalty. She takes everything in stride, even when things get crazy - consider her an

 island of tranquility in a sea of chaos! No hesitation whatever in recommending her to

any couple looking for an outstanding planner."

Awww thanks David! It was a pleasure to work with you as well at Abiade and Ernie's wedding:)

(Stay tuned later this week . . . finally blogging about this 2 day wedding! You won't want to miss it!

~Top 10 DIY Wedding Tips~

                                                                   Source: somethingturquoise.com via Tamara on Pinterest

What a great tip sheet on DIY-ing your wedding! You know I am all about DIY and craft projects! Great ideas here from Something Turquoise

My big tip that I always tell all my brides:
Plan a Girl's Craft Night
with your bridesmaids and any friends that will help.
Offer some wine, some great snacks and bust out your projects!
(Maybe limit wine to 2 glasses, so they don't get too tipsy=messy projects! Lol)

In a few of my planning packages I lead a craft night, I come up with ideas, tell them what supplies are needed and show them all how to do them.  This way people are involved and you can get a lot done!

Happy DIY-ing!

~Fern Wedding Love~

Ferns

Woodland. . .
Whimsical, organic, natural.

I am loving these as decor elements in weddings . . .

There's just something natural and simplistic about ferns
(and budget-friendly!)

I have some in my back yard :)

Want to learn how to make these fun playful items?

1) On a stick:

2) Backdrop of pinwheels from Wedding Chicks:
                                                                          Source: weddingchicks.com via Tamara on Pinterest

Steps as seen on Wedding Chicks:
"A special thanks to Yoleine Dumarsais for this DIY Ombre Pinwheels tutorial.

Supplies

1. cardstock paper
2. glue gun
3. scissors
4. paint brush
5. watercolor paint in your favorite color
6. hole punch
7. watercolor paper
8. 36″ dowels (not shown)

Step One

To create a colored wheel for a gradient look or an ombre appearance, paint half (or a little more then half) of your paper. Make sure to paint the end darker and go lighter on the half. Take a piece of napkin or washcloth and wipe the paint to the other half of the paper. Repeat this on multiple sheets to create 1 pinwheel fan. Note: All of your pinwheels do not have to be watercolored you can make some using this technique and some without.  For the water-colored pinwheels, I like to use Van Gogh water color paint, and water color paper (water color paper has texture compared to regular cardstock paper). But you can use any kind of water color paint.

Step Two

Fold cardstock paper accordion-style into 1/2 inch folds. It’s good to have different size papers in order to form different sized pinwheels. So you can cut the paper in different sizes.

Step Three

Fold accordion in half and secure using a glue gun for extra hold. This creates a part of the pinwheel. Repeat this 3 times. 3 fans equal 1 pinwheel.

Step Four

Punch holes with a hole punch or cut holes about a quarter of an inch from the ends of the pinwheels.You can add as many or little to your pinwheel. This is to make them a bit different!

Step Five

Use the glue gun to glue your pinwheels to the dowel for extra hold since this will be fastened to your wall. There’s no systematic way to glue wheels. Glue wheels at different angles whether it’s to the dowel or to another wheel. Make sure to cover the whole dowel!  About 7 pinwheels will create a pinwheel dowel for your pinwheel wall. Repeat this whole process 4 times to create your pinwheel wall!
For the shoot an 8×4 lattice wall was used to pin the dowels. Place the pinwheels one under the other and fill in empty spaces with an individual pinwheel. It’s up to you if you want to cover your wall completely or leave some empty spots!"
