~Simply Engaged: Piyali & Jon!~

I hope you all had an AMAZING Valentine's Day!

In lieu of love and lovely things . . . here is another of my uber fun couples for you to meet!!!

Enjoy their story and engagement photos by the oh-so-talented

{Simply Engaged}

I have said this before, but I just luck out and get to work with the BEST people.  Love them!

So here's a little more about the adorable couple
{Piyali & Jon}
. . .

Wedding Date: March 23rd 2013
Wedding Location: Arctic Club Hotel

{How did you two love birds meet?}

"Jon and I used to live in Washington DC and it was there that we met via a mutual friend (our Maid of Honor!) who organized a group outing one night. Jon had never said "I love you" to anyone before, but earlier on the night of our meeting, he happened to tell his friends, half-jokingly: "Guys, I'm going to fall in love tonight, I know it." Oddly enough, he was right! Later, we both admitted that we had it bad for each other since day 1."

{What first caught your eye?}

{Piyali}
"He was confident and exuberant.
He also had an infectious smile, and beautiful, compelling eyes."

{Jon}
"I thought she was stunning and radiant
She stood out to me in a room full of people."

{How did he pop the big question}

"Jon had just moved to Berkeley, CA for business school and I was still living in DC - on my first trip out to visit him, we drove up to the Marin Headlands near Sausalito, to a spot overlooking the coast and he asked me to be his wife. 6 months of cross country long-distance later, I ended up in Berkeley...just in time to get married!"

{What is your fave date spot/activity}

"We love snuggling up on the couch with a glass of wine to watch our favorite shows and eat popcorn...or getting dressed up and heading out to a fancy dinner! We're both foodies and really enjoy trying new restaurants and cuisines together. We also love to travel near and far, explore new places, and adventure together - we went skydiving for the first time last year and just got back from an incredible trip to Southeast Asia."

{What is your fave part about the wedding planning process}

"I love music, all genres of music. So to be able to hand pick much of the playlist for an entire event, ceremony to reception, with our nearest and dearest in attendance, is such a thrill and one of my favorite parts of wedding planning. I'm also pretty excited to see everything come together on our wedding day after months of working on all the pieces individually."

{Advice for planning a wedding to other couples}

Elope? Just kidding! ;)...budget early and review it often. It's easy to under-budget and not consider the many little expenses that come up as the date inches closer. Also, keeping the big picture in mind of what the day means instead of getting bogged down in details is important to keep your sanity.

{His faves}

Golf
Snowboarding
Reading
Writing
Drinks with friends
Football

{Her faves}
All kinds of yoga
Cooking
Wine
Discovering new music
Cheese
Autumn

{Both}
Travel
Politics & Policy
our PJs

{Favorite Meals you make for each other}

{Piyali} "Cooking isn't really Jon's forté but he's an excellent kitchen helper and he makes a mean burger! He's my favorite grillmaster :) "

{Jon} "There's a lot of them. But if I had to choose, pesto shrimp gnocchi with asparagus"

{Three words Piyali uses to describe Jon}
Thoughtful
Kind
Principled

{Three words Jon uses to describe Piyali}
Passionate
Loving
Playful

{On my wedding day I am most excited about . . .}

{Piyali}
"Seeing him waiting for me on the walk down the aisle,
being pronounced husband and wife"

{Jon}
"Declaring our love before all of our friends and family and before God"

. . .

Thank you Piyali & Jon for sharing this with us!!!

and I can't wait to help you on your BIG DAY next month, YAY!!!

xoxo

~Weekend Wedding Snapshot~

 (Stephanie and Eric's wedding at Pickering Barn last summer, Van Whye Photography)

One moment that is captured so beautifully by photographers is the
{First Look}
It is just so sweet!
As soon as I get photos from the photographers, this is one of my favorite images to see.  The look on the groom's face when he sees his gorgeous bride all dressed and glammed up.
Priceless.

Welcome to my newest couples, booking this year up fast!

~Jenny & Ali's Wedding at Semiahmoo Resort by Shari & Mike Photography 6.14.12~

I can't tell you how excited I am to share this wedding with all of you!
I mean this couple is adorable and majorly in love, you can just see it:)

I am simply proud to be a part of such a fun, loving, full of life wedding. ALSO I am proud to say that I have made some great friends. Can't wait to visit Vancouver to see these two!

If you missed their engagement photos in my "Simply Engaged" series, check it out here.

After that, enjoy these AMAZING photos by Shari & Mike Photography:

The weather up until the wedding had been unseasonably warm.  Then came the wedding day . . . and the rain.  This rain didn't stop an amazing wedding, it just changed the plans a little. Isn't a little rain on your wedding day good luck anyway?

Semaihmoo Resort is a stunning golf course and resort right on a peninsula on the tip of Washington and Canada.  I LOVED the old barn!

The bride, Jenny is just gorgeous and super sweet! Also she has great style, I mean check out her shoes!
AND her two dresses

The girls had fun with their mustache straws while getting ready

Then there is Ali, who is equally stylish and fashionable.  They make such a great pair!
How fun are those socks?!

Both love birds moments before the wedding ceremony . . .

A special moment with her father . . .
Originally the ceremony was going to be outside on the dock, but the rain changed our plans.  We had it under the chic tent, right in front of the head table.  Ali brought a Persian rug for them to get married on, one that was in his family:)

The dessert table

See the look on his face?! That's love

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Bzorgzad!

The rain let up for just enough time for everyone to get some photos in around the resort.

LOVE this shot:

Another fave: (ok I have a lot of faves, can you blame me?!)

Walking out to where the ceremony was going to be . . .
YAYYYYY!
Now Jenny had planned her wedding amazingly well, she did so much by herself and designed things perfectly.  She does have great taste! I loved her programs:

Her straws with their initials on them in hearts

The treats and candy bar were a huge hit! It was so hard to keep people from these until after the cake cutting!

I just have to say, I LOVE Canadians! They are just so sweet and kind, and they have some fun wedding traditions. A few traditions I want to use again: using 2 MC's that they knew.  Instead of having the DJ (Jaron from Audio Innovations! You are amazing) announce things, they had two super close family members announce things, and they were so very entertaining! Another tradition was that instead of the glass clinking that we do here, they have guests come up and sing a little to the bride and the groom to get them to kiss.  It was SO much fun, and I was surprised at how many people came up to sing! Needless to say there were many newlywed kisses :)

One thing that makes me feel the love from my clients is when they give me a seat at their wedding.  Although I can't really sit long, it just shows the appreciation and makes me feel like one of their friends/family. AND the food was AMAZING!
Next, the toasts. They were so touching and had everyone in tears.  These are the kind of weddings that you can tell that everyone is just so close, full of love.  This shows a lot about the couple.

Now for a dress change for the reception! I mean what lady doesn't want to have 2 wedding dresses? :)

And the first dance . . .

Jaron from Audio Innovations rocked the night away, the dance floor was so full all night long.  SO.MUCH.FUN

They even got the bride and groom up on chairs! What a party:)

{And that, my dears, is a perfect wedding}

Congrats Jenny and Ali, you two are just so sweet and I can tell this will be an amazing, lasting marriage :)

{A sweet review from the bride}
"Working with Tamara for our wedding on June 16th, 2012 was AMAZING!! She was so helpful with creative ideas throughout the entire process and was great communicating with me anytime I had questions or needed ideas. On the day of the wedding, she was so professional, fun, hard working and extremely organized. I would 100% recommend Tamara to all future brides, you will be so happy to have her be a part of your big day!"

Thanks lady!
